What Are Affirmations?

An “affirmation” is another way of describing self-talk– it is the inner dialogue that we all have, either positive or negative thoughts. An affirmation is a form of suggestion to yourself, it is a statement of desire and intent. Affirmations are statements that we use (either consciously or subconsciously) to manifest the experiences in our lives.

Throughout the day we are always subconsciously thinking affirmations, which in turn reflect in the experiences we have in life. Every thought that we have reflects our true inner feelings and beliefs. Many of these affirmations are habits that were formed because of experiences in our childhood. It is important to understand that these affirmations shape and attract experiences that we have in our lives, so we want to have positive affirmations in order to attract positive experiences and feelings.

Using positive affirmations on a regular basis can help replace negative beliefs with positive beliefs. Usually these affirmations are short, positive phrases or statements about feelings or experiences you would like to have in your life. You choose to repeat these positive affirmations regularly to replace the old, negative thoughts that were previously dominating your subconscious mind. Using these positive statements helps us to focus on our goals and attract things into our lives that we desire.
